the holidays are over and now we can get back to the serious work of
having fun! But, not before a brief reminisce of my Christmas Vacation.
I had a wonderfully memorable holiday. I went out to Phoenix to see a friend I've known since 1st grade. Her family is almost all very musical and so they put together a performance of Handel's Messiah. Since there are not enough violinists in the family, they brought in a few friends and I was asked to play. They didn't seem to mind the fact that I hadn't played in over 20 years. In the weeks before the performance, I practiced as much as I could.
We rehearsed together for the two days before the performance. I had almost forgotten how much fun it is to play in an orchestra! Finally, the day came and we were all rehearsed (sort of). Dressed in our finery, the choir sang their hearts out, the orchestra played with flying fingers, and the soloists all gave brilliant performances. This was the most fun and memorable musical experience that I have had in my life.
