The Dragon's Treasure

Wearable art by fiber artist

Loretta Alvarado

The concept behind this outfit is that the person wearing it is part of the treasure being guarded by the dragons. Of course, to be treasure, one must look the part, hence the metallic gold suit underneath the coat.

The dragons are made from metallic velvet. The inside is silk dupioni covered in bits of treasure, from coins, to beads, to the sword from the knight that the dragons ate, to all manner of bright shiny objects that dragons are so fond of.

This is a completely original design. I will never make another one like it. It took several months worth of work, plus lots of sore fingers from all the hand stitching involved. However, it was a very enjoyable project. And, I made it my own size in case I am unable to located that very special person who appreciates it as much as I do.
