Dana Point, CA
This detail of the Brig “Pilgrim” at Dana Point Harbor was made similarly to my image, Pilgrim Dawn, early on a winter morning. Here the ship’s rigging and mast frame the rising sun, making one of my most powerful backlit images. As Richard Henry Dana stated in his 1835 book, Two Years Before the Mast, this is “the only romantic spot in California.” It certainly is for me the best of them all.
