Music Collage Lap Quilt, February 16, 2003

This quilt is made from scraps of a variety of 100% cotton  music fabrics. The pieces are placed directly on the cotton batting and pinned in place. Random stitching is done over the entire surface in gold metallic thread. Once the top is done, the backing is quilted so there are two sets of quilting stitches on the front. After the binding is stitched by hand, the finished piece is washed and dried by machine to fray the edges of the loose fabric and to give the piece a softer feel.
